FIRST DATE WITH PARIS

Paris. She’s the one everyone wants to see. She bears the tag and desire of being the most romantic one. While also being a muse to many an artist. There’s Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and then there are the Rodins and Monets too. But there are also the Hemmingways and Fitzgeralds, and their stories at Shakespeare and Company. There are secret alleyways, busy streets, the cafes, the food, the desserts. In all, Paris is synonymous with love, romance, art, food and culture. So much has been written about her, we were more than excited to meet her in person.

A CITY STUCK IN NOSTALGIA
Paris is a city stuck in Nostalgia. Woody Allen’s ode to the city was the most accurate expression one could muster. It’s imperial and yet it’s very personal. It’s almost like you’re getting into an artist’s mind and reliving the experience. And many of them are trying to recreate that Golden Era magic. Sure, the food’s modern, the attitude new-age, but that feeling everyone’s after is that of being timeless. The city’s marvellous structures have been built by ruling kings, to showcase their reign, their taste and opulence. And over the centuries, Paris has taken shape. It’s almost like Paris has been curated for you. Handpicked experiences across the spectrum, each appealing to every one of your senses.

THE PEOPLE ARE COLD. THE CITY ISN’T.
It’s said that a city’s people are the best representation of itself. That might be true to rest of the gorgeous cities in the world, but in Paris, it isn’t. Everyone dons blacks and greys and blues, but they walk around with white collars. Greetings with a smile are few and far between, but then the city has a different conversation with you. It’ll welcome you with open arms, it’ll let you in on its secrets, and make the magnificent monuments less intimidating, and more personal. Maybe that’s why each of us has a different story to tell of Paris. The city is more than happy to play backdrop to whatever story you are scripting.

PARIS IN THE RAINS
While there’s enough debate whether Paris is indeed prettier in the rains, we can say it sure is hell of a lot colder. The temperature drops, and only once you’ve covered yourself with a light jacket, and sipped on a hot cup of coffee, do you get the chance to even look at the city in a new light. Thunderstorms are common in Paris. And your opinion on Paris in rain, starts with your equation with rain in general. The common reaction of people is to find a roof, and when that happens, you see Paris devoid of people, a few walk with their umbrellas, and it is now that you see the city in all its glory. We urge you take a walk in the rains and soak in the city, it’s utterly gorgeous.

HERE’S TO DELIGHTFULLY LONG DAYS
Summers in Paris feel like that great first date. The city knows you’re having a great time and doesn’t want your day to end. Instead, it’s already planted delightful surprises at every corner. Surprises for you to discover. And fall in love with. While the sun sets around 9 pm, you can enjoy an extra hour of daylight until the night waltz in at 10 pm. What a welcome change! Trust us, you can pack in so much more. Even the glorious weather ensures you don’t tire too easily. Summers are made for travel. And Paris is made for summers.

As far as first impressions go, Paris made a long-lasting one. Enough to make us want to go again and spend more time with her. The meet and greet was fantastic, the first date was almost perfect. And she’s tempted us enough to warrant second and third dates. Paris, you’re a bloody tease.
